Introducing myself..This is a BIT long. so my apologies! :)Hello!
My name is Natasha and I am originally from northern mid-michigan area (Standish). I now currently reside in Caro. I have been a working artist since 2004 but am still attending college for a different professional degree. I have a college experience in Graphic Design and have been illustrating for many years, but am working on sociology/psych degree. I have two children and was previously married.
My experience as far as the paranormal is extensive. Well, maybe not a WHOLE lot of experiences, but I have so many I can't count them on my fingers. My dad, Randy Ervin was on "A Haunting" for his story "Unleashed" based on his experiences with the paranormal in the Standish area years before I was born. He wrote a book about his experience and claims he has a sensitivity to any spirit's presence since the experiences. I can vouch for that claim, considering since my experiences, I seem to have a sensitivity very noticeable in rooms that seem to be undeniably inhabited by some unknown energy. It assaults my senses differently than fear or excitement, so it's discernably different.
My first experiences with paranormal were in my grandparent's huge house in Rhodes, Mi. My grandfather had built it by his own hands on a large amount of farm land that he own since god knows when! There was a specific room (of the many bedrooms) that we as children couldn't comfortably approach or even walk by. Time and again we had seen things we couldn't attribute to dreaming or foolish childhood paranoia.
At age 15, we had some paranormal events in my dad's home that were bothering us for several weeks.
Example #1: I kept having objects on my nightstand switched around, and me being a perfectionist and organizing freak found this frustrating. Several times, a blanket I kept on the middle of my floor was propped up over my head on the side of my bead like it was shaped like a person looking at me. I woke up everytime to throw it at the other end of the room, and find it would happen again that night.
Several nights I found myself waking up from doglike screams, and scurring around under my bed. We live in an apartment in a small town then, so obviously no rats or anything of the like. The final night of happenings led to me waking up because my bed was moving funny to find my mattress was two feet above the frame, and it then slammed down. I was so freaked out I covered my face and simply forced myself to sleep. The next day my dad asked me what the huge slamming sound was.
Example #2: 4 years later, and no strange occurences since, I would be living in a new home in Standish. It was a much older house, and about 6 months after we moved in things started to happen, much to my surprise. I was very indifferent to the spiritual or paranormal, so I tried for a long time to ignore the things happening. It apparently only downstairs in the livingroom area, and never happened upstairs in my room. Lots of adult friends and kid friends alike who stayed over would find themselves awakened by unknown people walking across the couch past them. I can remember two scary incidents in which someone ran heavily and rapidly up the stairs when I was upstairs, and down the stairs on a day when I was lying on the floor in the livingroom reading a book.
So, in summary, since those experiences I notice an apparent sense of coldness, heaviness, and a strong sense of presence has been felt easily in other situations where I was in the building or area of possible paranormal activity. Sometimes the presence is positive and light. Other times I can definitely sense something negative and heavy.
In past years, I used to be involved with a spiritual group that traveled around Michigan to investigate any paranormal activity, but it was for spiritual purpouses. I'm an agnostic, but I do know that from experience it's hard to deny that something is present in our world, whether it be energy, spirit, or entity. I'm an avid watcher of TAPS' show on Sci Fi, so I strongly agree and admire their objectives and terms in investigating places for activity.
I believe in investigating objectively and scientifically to separate the facts from the fiction. I am happy to be a part of this group and look forward to investigating and talking with you all!! I will try to make sure to attend the chat meetings and be part of the activity as much as I can. Sometimes weekends are busy for me, but I know I can make sure to attend as much as I can.
sorry for the long post. I didn't go back to edit and make sure it makes sense so hopefully it does! haha

Welcome Natasha,
I found myself relating quite a bit to your intro. We like a good mix in our investigations, so you will fit in perfectly.
I've had a few experiences as well, but I'm still not sure if it was the place I was in or my own kinetic energy. That's a personal search I am on. Right now I think it could be a mixture of both.
Well, getting back to our group,,,,,we have some who have had no experiences what-so ever, our true skeptics, but are open at the same time. We have those that have a very strong sensitivity that can't be overlooked, and we have those that seem to draw out the paranormal. All of these things and more help in our investigations.
welcome again and happy hunting. Sometimes it finds us.
I won't go into my experiences except to say they were mostly peaceful, and conforting, I can honestly say,,,,one time only did I experience the dark, as you say heaviness that I would not wish on anyone. It's something I'd rather not think about, but do know there should be precautions against that, in which we have tools to utilize as a group, if that should occur.

Hi Natasha!
I am glad to have you as a MI SPI member! Like Pat said, we have a nice mix of personalities and beliefs... In our area of study, this has proven to be quite an advantage. As with all groups, the differing points of view that accompany diversity tends to make the group stronger.
As far as spirituality, some in our group are strong believers while others are not. We do not try to push any sort of religion or beliefs on ANY of our members, though we do encourage and support anyone who does have these strong beliefs. I am overjoyed to honestly say that we are an extremely welcoming, tolerant, and supportive team!
I personally am what most would call a skeptic and I am not a spiritual person. As a scientist, I have never found or felt anything that I couldn't attribute to some naturally occurring phenomenon (though I look forward to finding something....
Again, we welcome you to our group, and look forward to meeting you! We have posted some more investigations and other events, and hope to see you there as well (if you want to sign up for an investigation, make sure you do so in the members section of the website...)!
Amy
